Italian Artist Francesco Galmarini
I was born in Milan in 1986 and studied chemistry at Milan Academy. I later on worked every bit a mathematics and physics teacher in high school and as a private teacher. I alive and work in Luino, a small city in the north of Italy, close to the Swiss border.
I have ever been passionate about art and fine art history, and I used to draw all the fourth dimension as a child, simply I took a long break from fine art until 2015, when I started using drawing and painting equally an outlet for my emotions, and my artistic journeying began. Discovering art equally an alternative and more effective way to say what's on my mind.
At the beginning, I started working generally in graphite and charcoal, only I soon moved to oil painting in 2016. A strong sensitivity to turpentine and other solvents forced me into searching for an alternative. At first, I started working in watercolour, a medium which I immediately loved and I accept never stopped working in since.
I tried soft pastels for the first time in 2017, and I quickly developed a strong bond with the medium, which has eventually become my favourite one.
My portraits and landscapes, mostly in pastel and watercolour, reflect my scientific background, displaying my keen attending to detail while trying to maintain sensitivity in the mode I portray my subjects. In my paintings, I often try to convey a sense of ambiguity, peace and sadness, beauty and caducity, life and death. My aim for the future is to keep exploring this kind of ambivalence and make people reverberate over the frailty of our lives. ~ Francesco Galmarini
